BESPOKE HAVEN OF SLOW CRAFT AND FINE FOOD

Auburn opened its doors in 2019 and celebrated its first anniversary during the first Covid shutdown. It closed its doors permanently a few weeks into the pandemic in 2020. We designed Auburn as an homage to both craftsmanship and natural materials. We worked closely with chef Eric Bost and acted as design architects, interior and furniture designers. The space was conceived as if stepping into a friends home - a warm, domestic shell with the fine-tuned operations of an internationally driven kitchen at its hearth. Working closely with a small team of craftsmen locally, we designed and fabricated a bespoke range of furniture, serve-ware and hardware tailored specifically for Auburn. All photos in this gallery by Nicole Franzen.


Snippets - we digitally designed over 30+ iterations of a bespoke dining chair for auburn and physically prototyped half a dozen / three final chair designs were selected at the end by the Chef himself and locally produced by our team of furniture craftsmen / floating banquettes were wrapped in vegetable tanned leather and are to this day one of our favorite bespoke pieces we've ever made / Eike Koning's Homer piece and Zhu Ohmu's vases made for this project landed in the restaurant's private dining room / …
