FRENCH BRASSERIE MEETS AMERICAN GRIT

Bon Temps opened its doors in summer of 2019 and was a victim of Covid pandemic. Before celebrating its first anniversary, the industry wide pandemic effects brought Chef Lincoln Carson's restaurant to a close. Bon Temps was a modern California brasserie rooted in French foundation set in downtown Los Angeles’ burgeoning Arts District. We worked as design architects, interior and furniture designers as well as millwork subcontractors to bring this space to life. The purposeful indoor/outdoor space was a contemporary homage to materiality and function, building upon the history of the space (a former Heinz loading dock) with a minimal palette and honest worn in elements.

Snippets - sheet aluminum was hand finished on site / integral thick Carrara marble was machine tooled to achieve undulation and curvature able to hold morning pastries as well as evening ice for raw bar / banquettes were inspired by the iconic Togo chairs and custom made only a few blocks from the restaurant / long communal table was made from vintage hundred year old Douglas fir beam that once served as a railway support / …
